Dear ISoP Members,
As the world reels from a series of sad and tragic events, it is a time for reflection.
We, as the Board of Directors of the International Society of Pharmacometrics (ISoP), wish to reaffirm our position to our members and to the world, that the Society strives to be diverse, inclusive, fair and have as its goal equity regardless of race, national origin, age, sex, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and ability. We believe that a strong and sound organization is one that represents everyone and is truly international. Science knows no geographical bounds in its quest for truth and neither do we. Our goal is an ISoP that is free from harassment, criticism, and/or physical and emotional harm, and treats everyone with the dignity and respect to which they are entitled.
Without concrete action to back them up, words are just words. Within the next 90 days, we will review ISoP’s bylaws and procedures to ensure that our policies remain consistent with maintaining inclusivity, diversity, fairness, and equity on the Board, its SIGs, committees and working groups, our meetings, and all ISoP activities. We will create an Inclusion & Equity Committee, which will advise the Executive Committee and Board of Directors, to ensure that we continue to live and work by our beliefs as a Society and that we maintain diversity, fairness, equity and inclusivity within the organization. We remain committed to creating opportunities to support disadvantaged and underrepresented pharmacometrics students around the world. We shall continue to engage with members of our local communities around the world to explore ways to promote our organization’s ideals at the local level.
We, as always, encourage feedback and seek ideas from our members on how to better promote these ideas throughout the organization. Working together we can create real change.
